Position objective:

  • The Branded Cards Collections and Recovery Risk team is seeking a candidate to own and lead strategy initiatives and analytics to improve asset sales and agency channel performance. Asset sales refers to debt sales of post charge-off accounts. Agency channel includes pre and post charge-off accounts.

Development value:

  • Asset Sales and Agency Management are the largest revenue drivers for Branded Cards Recovery. You will have the opportunity to demonstrate analytical thought leadership by owning cross-functional projects.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Own special projects in Asset Sales / Agency Management depending on business priorities and team capacity

  • Develop frameworks to optimize mix between asset sales and other strategies such as agency placements and litigation.

  • Provide back-up support to the Asset Sales area for core business functions (e.g. sizing salable inventory, strategy/risk oversight for sale process execution owned by Recovery Operations.)

  • Engage with Operations and drive Risk Oversight for market share movement based on approved methodology

  • Develop and Maintain agency performance MIS - engage with operations to drive agency performance (pre & post charge off)

  • Understand existing analytical frameworks, risk models, etc. and drive innovation / transformation

  • Partner with MIS / Reporting and Operations to streamline dashboards to answer most commonly asked questions across Recovery strategy.

  • Provide analytical support for Recovery strategy during regulatory exams, internal audits and compliance/policy reviews.

Keys to success:

  • Understand pre charge-off (Collections) strategies and develop analytical frameworks to 1) improve agency performance pre charge-off and 2) measure value of post charge-off sales from accounts that were in specialized queues pre charge-off

  • Balance a model driven approach with implementation feasibility; e.g. business priorities, industry trends, risk, local / global policy and regulatory considerations

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Finance, Mathematics, or related quantitative field.

  • Minimum of 5 years analytic experience using quantitative analysis, preferably in a risk management context, coupled with strong financial acumen.

  • Experience with SQL programming (preferably in a Unix environment), SAS experience preferred.

  • Credit card experience preferred, but not required.

  • Collections / Recoveries experience highly desirable.

  • Strong interpersonal, influencing and written/verbal communication skills + ability to synthesize information and prioritize actions.

  • Ability to independently lead strategy and analytical projects from idea to implementation to post-implementation validation and performance monitoring.

  • Ability to establish cross-functional partnerships (especially with Operations, Finance and Loss Forecasting)
