Joule a System One division is seeking a Laboratory Technician II for our client in Millsboro, DE, a manufacturer, filler, distributer and packaging facility for animal vaccines. This site is responsible for mammalian, insect and avian cell culture production, live bird vaccine production, embryonated egg vaccine production, roller bottle vaccine production, bioreactor vaccine production and down-stream processing (water in oil emulsions, aseptic filling, lyophilization, etc.) With more than 6,000 employees and roughly 40 offices throughout the U.S. we provide scientific, clinical, engineering, energy, IT, legal and administrative staffing services. Responsibilities: -performing advanced laboratory procedures independently for the testing of veterinary biologicals according to strict government and company imposed guidelines. -develop, evaluate and perform testing activities independently and may be involved in training colleagues. -Technicians may work with a variety of technical equipment while completing Quality Testing. -follow Good Manufacturing Practices and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and adhere to all safety and company policies, perform duties assigned by department supervision. -must possess thorough knowledge of the underlying principles used in testing procedures and understand the material being evaluated, i.e. virus, bacteria, cell line, etc. - Demonstrates, at all times, safe work habits and maintains a safe work environment. Understands and complies with all safety and company policies and procedures. -Perform troubleshooting testing methods and have the ability to evaluate new testing methods. -Maintain and evaluate the sequential analysis of the testing standards used in the area of the assignment. Design and carry out testing to establish new testing methods. -entry of test results in the QC tracking system and the cross-check of records. -Clean work areas including floors, walls, tables, etc.-Prepare, clean and sterilize glassware and equipment for use Equipment set-up and operations -Concurrent record keeping including charts, log books, and all pertinent documentation -Report all unusual, non-routing occurrences when performing tasks -Perform more advanced mathmetical calculations, conversions and formulations -accumulation, labeling and management of hazardous, universal and/or infectious wastes. -Write, revise and update SOPs for testing performed in the area of assignment -Participation in project teams and/or complete design of special projects.
Qualifications:-Proficiency with advanced laboratory techniques and procedure relating to 9CFR testing of veterinary biologicals-thorough knowledge of the underlying principles used in testing procedures and understand the material being evaluated, i.e. virus, bacteria, cell line, etc.-Training in aseptic clean room behavior-Applicant must be able to work with poultry eggs and live poultry-May be required to lift up to 50lbs at times.
