We are currently looking for a Lab Assistant in the Wilmington DE area for a 1 year contract job opportunity. The hours are M-F 8:00am-4:30pm. The research assistant will provide support and be a part of a high capacity plant growth and phenotyping facility and will be involved with the preparation and evaluation of Arabidopsis plants in a laboratory setting. Nursery related responsibilities will include soil preparation, seeding, plant care, plant transformation and seed collection as well as operating complex imaging equipment. Laboratory related responsibilities include: media prep, DNA extraction, PCR reactions, cloning and data analysis.
Qualified candidates must have an Agriculture Science or Biology degree with an emphasis on genetics. Knowledge of plant genetics is preferred. Detail oriented with ability to take accurate data, with an eye towards consistency and reproducibility, is essential. Good interpersonal skills and have moderate computer proficiency. Experience in a greenhouse setting and/or knowledge of standard molecular biology procedures is desirable.
